Walking the streets - my impression? they have remained af similar importance over the centuries, same one way system on Dale street.
People Watching
What do they miss? constructions? workers?
Contact with council
Contact with United Utilities
The appeal of an older image
Older image, documentation suddenly elevates the status of the items.

It is a fridge!

A bit of research on that old fridge in my exhibition space.

Mid to Late 19 century, probably oak.
Thermostat made in England by the British Thermostat Co.
It is a Frigidare with a serial number on the engine that looks like 54835/9
A posher version in OK condition is selling for $100. No hopes for this one in an auction then.

I still think it's a gem. Gonna clean up the space next week, a little room meet brush session.

5th December

Today is my little sister's birthday and I'm celebrating by having a rotten cold, a formative assessment and a dissertation tutorial...
Anyway, the assessment has gone well, below are images of my exhibition space in the basement of the John Foster building of LJMU. A little worse for ware but I find it to be perfect for my project where so far I have been looking beneath the streets. From these two photographs, you can see what I believe is an old fridge, maybe an airing cupboard, looks like it could be worth something to a museum. Also a window space which goes to street level, prone to leaks, the damp is obvious, a small river flows from the next room, just missing my space. I am also sorry to say that by the wood door in the first photograph, there are unusual squeaks... haven't seen any droppings though.

The following photographs are the grids of the north path of Castle Street walking towards Water Street, printed double sided by accident and I still don't dare go outside to photograph the other side. 82 service grids in total. May wait until the weather backs off before going back to the street to photograph the other side of the street. Anyway this bit of research has turned into a piece by itself, I would like to use them somehow, at first it was just framing them I had in mind, but since the tutorial, they could be worked with more; a raised platform with a void, tiles...Even the wall space can be adapted with a little artistic license by drawing representatives of the drains and pipes running down the wall.

Anyway for the official assessment, I need to put it all in order, tell everyone the objective of my work then tell them where my research has taken me and talk about the basement project and how I would utilise that space using sketched and quick installations of my images where I would want them.
